Game 1: William Barcroft 1 v 2 Laceby Acres
The first game was edgy from William Barcroft who conceded twice in the game before settling into the match. For the remainder of the game, we were the better side against the Tournament’s eventual winner. We managed to rescue a point by scoring a goal and making it a scoring loss courtesy of Theo.
Game 2: Humberston C of E 0 v 3 William Barcroft
William Barcroft dominated the game and the scoring was opened by Kaleb who converted a corner into the bottom corner using his knee. Theo then smashed in a free kick past the keeper before Leeland’s shot just crossed the line to make it 3-0.
Game 3: East Ravendale 0 – 2 William Barcroft
William Barcroft continued their goalscoring frenzy and Theo converted to make it 1-0. Theo then scored another goal to make it 2-0. However, despite the attacking success, big shout out to Rueben in goal, who made a collection of fantastic saves to keep the clean sheet.
Game 4: Middlethorpe 1 v 2 William Barcroft
William Barcroft had a game break before this game. This game was the first of 5 games in a row. Middlethorpe took an early lead. However, William Barcroft showed excellent character to turn the result into a win. Theo smashed in a goal before turning provider and giving Kaleb a tap in.
Game 5: William Barcroft 1 v 0 Scartho
This game looked like being one of them games where we wasn’t going to score despite being on top for most of the game. The goal came from a free kick in our own half, which Theo had drilled past the keeper late in the game and rescuing 3 points.
Game 6: Tetney 2 v 1 William Barcroft
Tetney were a good side and we more than matched them. We went 2-0 down after a few mistakes at the back but got ourselves back in front thanks to a goal from Theo from close range. We were pushing and pushing but couldn’t find the second goal before full time.
Game 7: Eastfield 3 v 0 William Barcroft
Eastfield were a very good side and William Barcroft started to show signs of tiring. Eastfield smashed in a fantastic goal to open the scoring. They then dominated the game, adding two more goals to their tally.
Game 8: William Barcroft 3 v 0 Coomb Briggs
Another very tough game for William Barcroft as it seems the hardest two game came at the very end. Coomb Briggs were ruthless in attack and had some very good attacking players. William Barcroft had a few chances but were not able to convert.
Overall, William Barcroft did extremely well and performed brilliantly. We had the best tournament for a Year 4 team in a long time. We collected 13pts and finished in a respectable place. Congratulations to Laceby Acres for winning the tournament. Massive thank you to the many parent spectators for their fantastic support.
