Our Y5 children have had the opportunity to experience a hands on Viking workshop in their individual classes, allowing them to apply some of what they have already learned in lesson but also expand their knowledge by drawing on the understanding of an external expert. The activities required them to engage in physical tasks, such as working in teams to create shapes of Viking artefacts (see if you can guess what they are in the photos!) and also re-enacting scenes from a Viking legend about Gods including Thor and Loki. They might be super heroes in the Marvel universe but the original Viking legends saw some very different plots and games being played by the pair.
