On Friday, 17th October, our school held a Careers Event in the main hall for pupils in Years 3 to 6. The purpose of the event was to inspire pupils to start thinking about the wide range of jobs and opportunities available to them in the future.
We were delighted to welcome visitors from Ørsted, RWE, Humberside Fire and Rescue, Humberside Police, the School Nursing Team, as well as representatives from plumbing and electrical trades, among many others. Each visitor shared information about their roles and explained what skills and qualities are needed in their line of work.
Pupils had the chance to ask questions, explore different careers, and learn about how the subjects they study in school can link to real-life jobs. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event, and it sparked lots of enthusiasm and curiosity about the world of work.
Overall, the Careers Event was a great success and provided a fun and educational experience for all involved.
Here are some quotes from our visitors about our children:
‘I would like to pass on my thanks for the invitation to attend this morning. Please pass on my comments to those concerned. All of the children that I had the pleasure of meeting this morning are a credit to your school. They were polite and respectful and made visiting a pleasure.
All of the staff should be very proud of what you are obviously achieving in what I am sure can be a challenging environment at times.’ Andy, plumbing and heating.
‘It surprised me how many students knew what an electrician actually did especially the younger ones and one lad in particular already studies electricians on youtube as he’s desperate to become one, also some of the questions were interesting and I could tell from the response that they were taking things in as my answers were getting followed up with more questions.’ Simon, electrician.
